Madaline G Allsup

Madaline (Maddie) Allsup is a queer, justice-seeking, special education teacher who has deep roots in North Carolina. She earned a BA from Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia, majoring in International Relations and minoring in Spanish. After graduation, Maddie attended Iliff School of Theology in Denver, Colorado, where she earned a Masters of Divinity with a concentration in Religion and Social Change. Combining her love for Spanish, social justice, and working with children and youth, Maddie has spent a year as well as several summers in Honduras as a volunteer teacher with Bilingual Education for Central America (BECA), an organization that seeks to partner with communities in order to provide affordable bilingual education and cultural exchange. Maddie now works as a special education teacher at a school in Siler City, NC, where she helped found the school’s equity team. Being a member of the LGBTQIA+ community who is dedicated to the empowerment of the Latinx community, Maddie is honored to be part of LILA and is dedicated to her role on its board.
