Helen Epstein

Helen Epstein, “The Ampersand of Reason”: I was raised in an interfaith home, with a Jewish Father and Christian mother. We celebrated holidays from both traditions, and I was free to explore both faiths. I was bat-mitzvahed in the Reform tradition at 13,and for a while pursued an Orthodox conversion. I stopped observing Judaism in my late teens. After many years of being “spiritual but not religious” I had an unexpected conversion to Christianity the first time I took Communion. The how’s and the why’s are more than this summary can contain! I have an MDiv from Wake Forest University School of Divinity, as well as two years of Chaplaincy residency at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. I also hold a Bachelors of Science in Nursing, and am a Registered Nurse. I am currently under care with the North Carolina Region of the Christian Church(Disciples of Christ) as I pursue ordained ministry.
