Ann J. Temkin

Ann Temkin is half Jewish/half Gentile, a former Catholic nun, ordained Protestant minister, author, and former psychotherapist. Her spiritual journey has been marked by wrestling with hard questions, dissatisfaction with easy answers, a deep yearning for the living God, a passion for social justice and concern for the oppressed.
Ann tells her very personal #MeToo in Church story in her new memoir The Smoking Nun. Revealing for the first time a secret love, difficult decisions, dark times and new light and life, The Smoking Nun is a tale of pain and recovery.
Ann believes that God is always more than we can understand, imagine or experience. She is happiest among the questioners, with the wounded and shut out, testifying to both the depth of the human struggle and the extravagant love of God. Ann has a lot of academic credentials, but always speaks passionately from her heart.
