Basement Spirituality: What the Church Must Learn from AA

Fri 3 PM | Convo Hall 2

In recent years, the vital spiritual community of Alcoholics Anonymous has been discovered by the non-addicted as a well of spirituality outside of the desert of the institutional church. Many see the spiritual depth and authenticity of the AA community and say, ā€œIā€™m not an alcoholic or an addict, but I want that; I need that.ā€ This session will discuss the ways in which AA can offer the church a model of spiritual revitalization. The irony is that church basements are the traditional meeting place for AA, so the church is literally sitting on top of these resources for revitalization.
