Madaline Allsup / La Mesa y Cafe

Madaline (Maddie) Allsup is a queer, justice-seeking, special education teacher who has deep roots in North Carolina. She earned a BA from Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia, majoring in International Relations and minoring in Spanish. After graduation, Maddie attended Iliff School of Theology in Denver, Colorado, where she earned a Masters of Divinity with a concentration in Religion and Social Change. Combining her love for Spanish, social justice, and working with children and youth, Maddie has spent a year as well as several summers in Honduras as a volunteer teacher with Bilingual Education for Central America (BECA), an organization that seeks to partner with communities in order to provide affordable bilingual education and cultural exchange. Being a member of the LGBTQIA+ community who is dedicated to the empowerment of the Latinx community, Maddie is honored to be part of LILA as well as La Mesa y Cafe.
